Voice chat lets the players at one multiplayer table talk to each other live while they play, like a phone call around a card table. It is off until you tap the microphone. Nobody hears you unless you choose to talk.
Voice runs over LiveKit, a real-time audio provider we use as a processor. Audio is carried between the players at your table and is not sent anywhere else, except in the one case described in section 3.
2 Who can talk, who can hear
Talking is a Diamond Society membership feature. Members seated at a table can open their microphone with the mic button beside the chat button.
Everyone at the table hears — members and non-members alike.
Spectators hear too. Anyone who opens a table to watch hears its voice chat, and appears in that table's spectator count while they do. Spectators cannot talk.
Nobody outside the table hears it. Voice is only given to players seated at the table and to spectators who have opened it. Someone who is not at the table cannot listen in.
Voice is available at free tables and at wagered tables alike.
Your microphone is off by default and turns off again when you leave the table. Tap the mic to talk; tap it again to stop.
A live microphone plays through your phone even when the ringer switch is set to silent. That is how every voice app works on iOS. Game sounds still follow your silent switch once your microphone is off.
3 What is recorded, and for how long
Voice is not recorded by default. Nothing said at a table is stored, transcribed or analysed while nobody has reported anyone.
If a player or spectator at a table reports someone's voice, that table's audio is recorded from that moment for five minutes, so that a member of the Konkan team can listen to what happened. The words said before the report are not captured — the recording starts at the report. A table is recorded once. Later reports at the same table are reviewed against that recording if it was still running when they were made; if it had already finished, they are reviewed without audio. Very occasionally a technical fault stops us ending a recording on time and more of that table is captured — it is kept and deleted on the same schedule as any other.
Recordings are kept for 5 days and then deleted automatically.
Recordings are reviewed by a human on the Konkan team, only for the purpose of handling the report. They are not shared with other players and not used for advertising.
We never build a voiceprint, speaker profile or any biometric identifier from your voice, and we do not use any vendor that does.
Recordings are stored in Google Cloud Storage in the United States, access-restricted to the Konkan team.
4 The rules
Voice chat is for the game. There is zero tolerance for:
abusive, hateful, threatening or sexually explicit speech;
harassment of any player, including after they have asked you to stop;
discriminatory remarks about anyone's race, religion, nationality, sex, sexuality, disability or age;
spam, noise, music or anything played to drown out the table;
sharing anyone's personal information;
colluding over voice at a wagered table (see the fair play rules).
By opening your microphone you agree to these rules and to the Konkan Classic Terms of Service.
5 Muting and blocking
Mute voice — tap a player's avatar at the table and choose Mute voice. You will never hear that player's voice again, at any table, until you unmute them. The other player is not told.
Block — blocking a player also silences their voice for you, and stops their friend requests and game invites.
6 Reporting a player
Tap the player's avatar at the table and choose Report voice, then pick a reason. Anyone at the table — seated or spectating — can report.
The first report starts a five-minute recording of the table (section 3) so the Konkan team can review what was said. A table is recorded once, not once per report.
When enough different players report the same person at one table — two, unless we change that number to deal with abuse — that person's microphone is switched off for the rest of that set, automatically, and they are told why.
If eight different players report you at two or more different tables within 4 hours, your microphone is switched off automatically for 8 hours — before a human has looked. A member of the team reviews it afterwards, and you can appeal (section 8). The count clears on its own after 4 hours, and it clears again when a suspension ends.
Every report is reviewed by a human within 24 hours.
Reporting is for the rules above. Reports made to silence an opponent who has done nothing wrong are themselves a breach of these rules and are visible to the review team.
7 What happens to players who break the rules
An automatic mute for the rest of the set, at two reports (section 6).
After a human review, a voice suspension of 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or permanently. A suspended player can still play and still hear the table; they cannot talk. They are told in the app when the suspension was applied and when it ends — or, for a permanent suspension, that it does not end.
Repeated or severe abuse can lead to the account being suspended or closed under the Terms of Service.
8 Appeals and contact
If you believe a mute or suspension was applied in error, email support@konkan.pro from the email address on your account, with your Player ID (Account → Contact Us → copy Player ID) and the approximate time. A human will look at the recording and reply. Suspensions can be shortened or lifted after an appeal.
The same address is the point of contact for authorities and for complaints under the UK Online Safety Act and the EU Digital Services Act.
9 Age and safety
Because voice chat connects players who do not know each other, Konkan Classic is rated 17+ on the App Store and rated accordingly on Google Play. Do not share where you live, your full name, your school or workplace, or any other personal details over voice. If someone makes you uncomfortable, mute them, report them, and leave the table.
10 Your data and account deletion
Your voice mute list and your voice suspension status are part of your account and are deleted when you delete your account (Account → Delete account).
Recordings made because of a report are moderation records. They are kept for their 5-day life even if a player at that table deletes their account, and are then deleted automatically.
